Hampden project

The Handley Page Hampden project at Cosford that I last saw a couple of years or so ago is apparently almost finished and will soon be moved to Hendon. Sadly 'finished' in the eyes of the RAFM means just the fuselage and whilst the museum has the wings there are no plans to restore them and attach them to the aircraft fuselage. It all seems rather disappointing to me and still means that if you want to see what a complete Hampden looks like you need to go to Langley in Canada. At least I have had that pleasure.

They do seem to p*ss about over there at Cosford but I suppose that's down to project management not the staff that get their hands dirty.

    1. Seems a shame because they do some cracking work. The fuselage looks great, albeit glazing is not being added either, and it would be nice to see a complete aircraft. But it's nothing to do with me of course.

    2. Agreed and they do indeed turn out some fine restorations but as you say clearly there are people there calling the shots and l suspect they also have their own agenda. We have the right to have our say Peter we who fork out visiting such venues over a year but that seems to get overlooked.
