The Anson has landed
Figuratively of course as the Anson was shipped from its previous home in New Zealand where I saw it last year to its new home in Belgium. But it is now being reassembled ready to fly again in Europe. Wonder if it will appear in the UK at any point.
End of the line
As I mentioned 18 months ago, the prospects for the Canberra at Newark museum were not good as the airframe was in pretty poor condition. It has now been dismantled for scrapping although some parts have been saved.

Operation Dynamo
Operation Dynamo was the evacuation of the beaches at Dunkirk in May 1940. Despite some derogatory comment the RAF were involved and so there is a replica Spitfire at Ramsgate harbour as part of the 85th anniversary commemorations currently under way.
Of course, the Little Ships are the key to the commemorations and there is more about them in my blog post here.

Repaint underway
The Handley Page Victor at the Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington is currently being repainted. It has been in an overall hemp scheme, as below, since before it arrived at the museum. It will be returned to the camouflage scheme it wore during the 1982 Falklands conflict and should be finished by mid June. Its been a few years since I visited so maybe a return is in order.

TFC Corsair sold
It seems that The Fighter Collection Corsair has been sold to a new owner in Alabama. We have had a good run of it in our skies as it has been displaying here since 1986 but it is still a shame to lose it.
Here is the last shot I took of the Corsair at Duxford last November and on the flight line for the 2024 Sywell air show.
Duxford VE Day Flying Day
The visit to Duxford on Saturday also included a small flying display in the afternoon. Here are a few shots of the action.

Duxford yesterday
For once we had a good run up to duxford yesterday, a good run home and the sun stopped out all day so couldn't ask for much more. It was fairly busy as this was the VE Day flying day and it was sold out but I was able to have a look around and here are a few more snaps including the P36 which is meant to be ready for Shuttleworth, the Tempest parked in its usual corner, and the Beaughfighter engines which are presumably not being worked on.
Avro York
The Avro York has now been moved out of the super hangar at Duxford. It does not fit with the planned cold war theme that is planned for the revamped display. This could easily have been rectified with a repaint in to a Berlin Airlift era scheme but the problem is that IWM do not own the York the Duxford Aviation Society do. It seems the DAS offered a repaint of this nature but sadly IWM turned it down and the York, along with the DAS owned Comet and Dove, have moved to new permanent display areas outside.
