Hatfield Sea Vixen

The DH Sea Vixen on display outside at the De Havilland Museum at Hatfield was looking a bit sorry for itself when I was there in 2021 but I am pleased to see that a full repaint has just been started.

Mustang NZ2415

This P51 Mustang was one of the attractions at Warbirds over Wanaka at Easter this year (see older posts) and is cuurently up for sale through Clasic Aircraft Sales Ltd. It is noted as 'on deposit' so I guess a change of ownership could be close. Wonder whether it is staying in NZ.

Duxford - summer maintenance

Popped in to Duxford this weekend as I was passing by, mainly in the hope of catching the A26 Invader 'Million Airess' which has been in Europe for the D-Day commemorations and is waiting for a couple of parts before returning to the States. I did find it in the Stephenson hangar but sadly at the back more or less out of view.

Elsewhere the CR42 was still in bits and routine maintenance was underway on a couple of the flyers. Work continues on the Heinkel 162, the Shackleton is progressing well with some tail plane parts painted and waiting to be attached to the aircraft. The main wings however have yet to be started.

On the flight line the VC10 is cloaked in scaffold and the new play area with a Wellington centre piece is slowly taking shape.
