I saw this Hunter a while back looking a little forlorn at the Gatwick Aviation Museum. However it has now been acquired by the Sussex based Wings museum and moved to Dunsfold where the plan is to restore the aircraft and place it on display in a new hangar alongside the museum's Hawker Kestrel.
At least it will be safe from the elements. The Hawker Hunter l made-over back in 2013 at RAF Barkeston Heath which was displayed outside 8 Squadrons building for a while has moved to NEAM near Sunderland and apparently its going to replace the F-4 at RAF Boulmer which you have visited. No idea where the F-4 is going to end up. The Hunter will be re-finished in a different colour - scheme.
ReplyDeleteWow, was the Barkeston Hunter that far back!
DeleteYes, saw the F-4 at Boulmer but difficult to snap. Have to hope it ends up somewhere more accessible but we get some musical chairs sometimes, I think the Honington Buccaneer has just been moved on.
Ex RDAF exported version with F-51 serial E430 ?
