So this weekend gone, my good mate Gaz and I nipped over to France for the La Ferte Alais air show which was first for us both. All went pretty well with a Euro Star trip to Paris where we stopped a couple of nights and used the Metro line to travel out to the show. Shuttle buses were meant to be running from the station to the airfield but none were in sight and traffic extremely heavy so we opted for the 20 minute walk which was a bit steep up a woodland path at the end but we managed without any dramas and found ourselves on the field with a large show of aircarft on the flight line which included aircraft rolled out of the on site museum and a pretty extensive and quite impressive airshow over more than 4 hours later in the afternoon. It turned in to a long day, getting up around 7 a.m and returning to the hotel at almosr 10 p.m. but was certainly a worthwhile venture helped by decent weather and several firsts for us amongst the displays. HEre are some of the flightline aircraft pre flying.
It was indeed a worth while visit and glad to have made the trip and there was much to photograph and take in. Was a very long day and as you say a pretty hot one at that but we made it after over an hour's train travel changing once but we were lucky to have bumped into someone attending the show also and we stick to him like glue and made the show. it was a trek from the town and we were glad to have reached the summit always under the watchful eye of the area Police who were great with the pedestrians and clearly had their safety in mind. Good trip and was pleased with the results of using the 'old' faithfully camera which l saw today. Mobile phone cameras handy but you are limited to how far you can push them.
ReplyDeleteI find the same on mobiles. You can get some good shots and you do but I find that more than just a little zoom isn't great although a more expensive phone might address that but outdoors I struggle to see the screen so too hit and miss for me. I'll stick with the camera for now🙂
