The first full air show for me of 2026 was at Shuttleworth yesterday. We elected to stop over and whilst the journey Friday night was a little slow the last 15 miles in to the airfield were a doddle. There had been a promise of the former NZ Anson making its air show debut but it wasn't quite ready and originally the BBMF Lancaster was due to make a flypast but we had a Spitfire instead. Most other acts, including the Douglas R4D that we saw at Duxford VE Day show, performed as planned although stronger than desired winds meant that the Edwardian aircraft could not take to the skies for the evening element of the show. The show was split in two parts with the main displays from 2 - 6 and a further hour from 7.30. We nipped off 10 minutes befor the end to avoid traffic as the final act, Spitfire AR901 had alreay performed earlier. The announcers were suggesting the Boxkite and one other of the older aircraft could put in an appearance as the breeze had dropped right off but as the light was fading good pictures seemed unlikely so we left anyway. Weather was great for most of the day and my good mate Gaz was there for a few hours as well so, all in all, a grand day out. Plenty of snaps to go through so I'll start with some stuff on the ground.
Nice to catch up with you in 2025 and look forward seeing you in France next week. Excellent shots and we were blessed with good weather most of the day.
