Although the show plans have basically been approved by the powers that be it seems there is insufficient time available to address possible safety concerns for the show that was scheduled next month and consequently it has been postponed until early June next year. No doubt this will be seen to vindicate a lot of people who suggested it wasn't going to happen in the first place. Ticket refunds are available.
So sorry to hear this and feel sorry for all looking forward to this event. Reminds me of the kind of stunt North Weald used to pull a few years ago. This term 'basically' worries me because that's unfair to people who have in good faith dipped into their pockets made plans to attend and all the time nothing is 'set in concrete' for the event to happen.
ReplyDeleteTo me it seemed a great idea airshow at the seaside similar to The Bray Airshow neat Dublin but if you remember when it was announced your local 'rag-mag' started firing bullets on behalf of local residents who cannot make their minds up if they want an active airfield or housing and was a poor standard of journalism as l recall.
So whats your next event 'The September Show' IWM Duxford ?
It's a stupid way to lose the support of the paying public and possibly signed up participators as well. The original plan was sharing some content with Eastbourne on the same weekend. Of course there were those who said they would go to Eastbourne instead as it was free but I don't know what the thought process is in going for June instead.
ReplyDeleteIronically last night I was watching a (recorded) programme about Sywell's show last year .Another venue that hadn't had a show in years and even withe the organiser terminally I'll they still pulled it off. No over confidence, properly planned and a great success.
It would be tragic if Eastbourne was to pull the plug too as l understand aircraft appearing at Eastbourne where using Manston to appear at Eastbourne but if those aircraft that were 'billed' at Manston are not know appearing at Manston do they use elsewhere which might bump extra costs for the Eastbourne free public show ?
