Hethel Airfield in Norfolk was home to the Liberators of the 389th Bombardment Group. The airfield had other uses post WWII and from 1966 has been home to Lotus cars but a memorial to the war time activity can be found in the grounds of the nearby All Saints church.
Nice one. Myself and 'H' went to view that years ago when on our way to Coltishall and we also took in the memorial at Snetterton. We tried to get onto the one of domestic sights at Hethel with a chum of 'H' but because at the time there an outbreak of bird flu the surrounding area backing up to farm land was off-limits. In the huts there were paintings murals on the walls etc and thats what we tried to view. Glad you posted.
ReplyDeleteNo problem Gaz. It's an interesting little church as well which we were surprised to find was open. Had the place to ourselves unsurprisingly.
